STRENGTHS: Rowan has always been a Wiz at charms (pun intended). She has a fun loving a free wheeling personality that allows her to connect better with students. She can connect with the students, but is still able to be an authority figure. Despite a position of authority she has been able to keep her free spirit and open mind. She has an eye for beauty in everyday things and tries to help others see it. She is never unwilling to help someone who asks for it. She truly enjoys teaching people and seeing the look on someone’s face when they understand something making her driven to be the best teacher she can.
WEAKNESSES: She can get too passionate about her subject and ramble on long past when some of her students have stopped paying attention. She sometimes drinks a bit too much fire whiskey at parties. She can’t say no to her nieces and nephews even though she really isn’t supposed to do magic in front of them since they are muggles. She gets side tracked easily. Sometimes she tries to be the student’s friend instead of their teacher. She never fallowed the rules when she was at school and can find it hard to stay in line now as a role model.
DETAILED PERSONALITY: Rowan spent years not knowing exactly what she wanted to do. She did a number of odd jobs, about seven in the span of two years none of them being a good fit. She tried writing like her mother, but editors setting a time she had to be done ended that. She was much too free spirited to have a set schedule to keep to. She decided to travel to try and find her calling. As she moved around in order to continue traveling she had to make some money and ended up doing freelance charm work for wizards and witches who needed charms but couldn’t perform them properly. She found this was a great job, but soon got bored doing the same complicated spells over and over. She wanted something more exciting to do.
She contacted her old school of Hogwarts about keeping her in mind if they ever needed a charms teacher. To her surprise they were looking to hire a charms teacher at the time. She went for a ten-minute aptitude test and a short interview of why she wanted to teach. Whatever she said must have been acceptable since come fall she was established as the new charms teacher and has now been part of the staff for the last six years.
(I know this is more like a brief history but it is just sort of what came out and I think for a teacher a brief history is more important anyway.)
PLATFORM NINE AND THREE QUARTERS:
She had never expected to be back at Hogwarts; at least not as a teacher. She thought maybe one day she would have kids and they would come to Hogwarts, but she still had trouble coming to grips with the fact that she was a teacher now. She had been a teacher for a while, but it was still a bit of a shock. She shook her head and trudged through the gate and up to the castle doors.
She had never known how quiet the castle could be before the students arrived and it always made her long for the start of term. She couldn’t stand the overly oppressive silence that seemed to settle over the castle before term. She had to arrive early as a teacher though and truthfully she could use the time. She carried almost everything she owned in the two suitcases she had with her. She kept most of her books in her quarters over the holiday and her winter cloths stayed as well. She brought all her lesson plans and textbooks back and forth so she could work on them over the summer, but most things stayed at the castle. She tended to travel over the holiday and visit with her family so she was basically living out of suitcases for three months anyway.
It took longer than she would have liked to reach her office and classroom on the third floor but at least it wasn’t in one of the towers. She wished the teachers at least could apparate on the grounds of Hogwarts it would have made this easier. She flopped in the comfy recliner she had swapped her originally issued office chair for. She used her wand to open her two suitcases and started to set about floating pictures onto the walls and books onto the shelves along with snow globes and shot glasses and all sorts of pointless souvenirs from her travels. She would sometimes swap positions of things with an irritated flick of her wand and then maybe switch them back. Soon the entire room was a whirlwind of paraphernalia flying to find it’s proper place.
(I think is is obvious but in case it isn't I would like her to be the charms teacher.)
