Care of Magical Creatures 1: R&S

[Professor Anu Maruti]

Class. It was actually time for class. Anu could barely believe it. She was absolutely elated.

"Look your best, Rama." She said as she clasped her phoenix necklace on and gave herself a once over in her mirror.

The Phoenix cooed and she took it as a sign he understood. Anu braided her long black hair down her back and held an arm out to Rama. His talons had been neatly manicured earlier in the day so he wouldn't pick at her new black dress.

The duo exited the room and stride across the grounds proudly. It was still somewhat early in the day, which made her even happier. Anu loved mornings.

Once inside the newly remodeled building, Rama took his seat on his ornate perch and watched as she scurried about, placing the monstrous books on each of the desks. Pearl and Opal, her two doves, cooed along from their silver cage on her desk, which was covered in Indian rugs and tapestries of all sizes and colors. She tried to bring India to Hogwarts as best as she could.

Bhash, her little Crup pup wagged his forked tail as he sat near the door. She loved animals, almost too much.

"Well Rama, I think we're ready."

Jess was very excited. She loved animals, and, even though they would be sharing the class with the Slytherins she knew that the Professor would keep them in line.

"Good Morning Professor." She said chirpily as she entered the beautiful classroom. She looked around, taking in the decor, very nice! She took a seat in the front of the class, patting the book in front of her absently.

A lovely young girl came into the room first, and Anu greeted her with a smile. She finally sat at her desk and pulled Bhash into her lap, patting his head absent mindedly. "And good morning to you as well, young lady." She replied, still smiling away.

Just then, the girl placed her hand on the book. Anu shot out of her seat with a squeal. "Don't touch it directly!" She squealed in an excited but nervous tone. It was the Monster Book of Monsters, a classic favorite that she ordered especially for her class, as it seemed there weren't nearly enough copies before. Thankfully she hasn't removed the Spello-Tape just yet.

Rama really got his feathers ruffled when she shrieked as she did. The Phoenix took to fluttering about the desk, squaking about.

Anu calmed herself and sat back down, tapping on the perch with her nails to redirect the Phoenix's attention. "My apologies. It might be best to keep your hands away from the book until class begins. That reminds me, I should probably write that down." With that and a flick of her wand, a piece of chalk scribbled away on the board behind her in nice, large print text: DO NOT TOUCH BOOK!

Jess giggled as she took her hand away from the book.

"Sorry" She said with a broad smile. Biting books? Yes, this is exactly the kind of thing she loved about Hogwarts.

[Ella Grace]

Ella was in no mood for class.

least of all Care Of Magical Creatures. She could see the airy Ravenclaw girl she didnt like from a way away from the class, and was already running the best scenarios to subtlety tell her Ella didn't like her... Oh yeah, and that Corey was hers.

She perched herself on the seat next to Jess, not saying a word to the professor or her, just looking over Jess.

The Ravenclaw girl took her outburst in stride, and that made Anu very pleased. She felt that she would become one of her favorite students very quickly.

The barking of Bhash signaled another newcomer. She put on a smiling face as a Slytherin girl made her way into the classroom. "Good morning!" Anu called out, hoping to get a positive response.
