The last thing Declan wanted to have to deal with after the last lesson of the day was some immature idiots prank and yet it seemed that was exactly what he was going to have to deal with. He’d barely left the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom when the contents of his bag had been emptied out onto the ground and of course being as on guard as he was, the first thing Declan had done was assume someone had sabotaged him and so before even attending to the mess now surrounding him, he looked around, spotting a second or third year giggling to their friends. Far from impressed when his eyes landed on the wand in the boy’s hand and he saw the way he was being watched, Declan fired off his own spell, hoping it made contact before he dropped to the ground and began to gather up his belongings, muttering darkly under his breath as he stuffed them all back into his now repaired bag.

Scarlett had stayed back a minute to ask some last minute questions and so missed what had happened between Declan and the second years. When she saw him squatted to retrieve his things her immediate response was to slide to her own knees to help him gather his things. "Are you alright?" She asked, wondering if he had tripped or something, based on the way he was so grumpily muttering.

Declan had been about to snap at whomever had asked if he was alright, figuring it was quite obvious that he wasn't alright, as being cranky didn't really classify, but a second glance showed him it was Scarlett and funnily enough he felt his anger subsiding somewhat, knowing there was no point in taking his frustrations out on her when she'd done nothing wrong.
'Fine' He mumbled, shoving the last of his belongings back into his back and offering it to her to dump whatever she'd picked up in there as he mumbled a thanks, wondering why she was still around but not wanting to be nosy and ask.

He seemed upset. She couldn't figure why, but when he held out his bag she quickly rearranged what he'd put in so that it all fit nicely and snugly. She'd assumed that his bag had naturally ripped, since Scarlett was a good natured person and would never do something like tear someone else's bag with magic. "Where are you on your way to?" She asked kindly, hoping she could brighten his mood some. "I was just asking a couple questions of the professor, so my friends left me behind, I guess."

'That's rude of them. I'm not really sure, I hadn't got that far' Declan admitted when she asked where he was going. His mind had barely left the classroom when his bag had torn and so he'd not really given any thought into how he was going to spend the rest of his afternoon. He couldn't help but wonder briefly why her friends would have just left like that, rather than waiting, but then Declan was just figuring logically, since he didn't normally bother waiting for anyone and no one bothered waiting for him (which of course suited him just fine), but he figured that was how those kind of things were supposed to work.

"No, sometimes I ask a lot of questions. Last time one of them waited for a half hour before I was done. Since then they've stopped waiting" She explained. It made sense, really. They'd meet up again later, they lived in the same room after all. The fact that he had no plan surprised her somewhat. "Well if you'd like, I was thinking about going out for a bit of a walk. It's a nice afternoon. Though I guess if your bag's just broken you might want to drop it off or mend it first?"

'I suppose that makes sense then. Still, they could have waited for a few minutes to see if you were going to be long or not' Declan shrugged, knowing that he wouldn't have waited, but even so. When she suggested going for a walk he agreed, informing her that there was little chance of his bag breaking again and so there was really no reason for him to have to drop it off, seeing as he'd already mended it and he knew the cause for it having broken last time.

She frowned, "What was the cause of it breaking?" Scarlett asked, trying to sneak a glance at it and see if it was noticeable. Didn't look like anything specific was wrong.

'Idiots thinking they're funny' Declan growled, thinking that was one of the least amusing things he'd ever seen. Hogwarts students seemed to think they were comedians though and so he'd come to expect little more from some people in the castle.

She frowned, cocking her head to the side. "Did you hex them?" She asked, looking up at him curiously. She wouldn't have, because she could never bring herself to, but she somehow hoped he had.

'Of course' Declan frowned, wondering whether she was about to get mad at him. It was a lesson, and it was one that they needed to be taught. Attacking someone without knowing what they were capable of really wasn't very smart in his opinion, and so he'd treated them to a particularly nasty hex, one that required a visit to the Hospital Wing, hoping they'd not bother him again.

She nodded, tucking her hands into the pockets of her cardigan. "I wish I had the wherewithal to hex someone when they deserved it" She admitted to him candidly. She was far too afraid of getting in trouble. "What did you use?"

'I'm sure if it was absolutely necessary you'd be able to' Declan told with honestly, knowing it might take something like a life or death situation but she'd be able to if it was necessary. When she asked what he used he simply shrugged his shoulders, not particularly wanting to share just what he'd done.

"I don't know. I always feel bad, even in duelling" She explained, even more curious when she found he wouldn't tell her.

'It's okay to feel bad as long as you look after yourself' Declan shrugged, seeing no problem with having a conscious.
