He smiled again a smile that went all the way to his eyes this time. "I knew you would pick it up quick." He picked his guitar up from where it was resting and strummed a note to see if she could figure out how to harmonize with it. This would definitely be interesting if nothing else. With her help he might actually finally be able to get a band together. He had always wanted to start a band he just never had the people.
Michael shivered a little when she mentioned Corey. He tried to hide his discomfort about the guy. "I know he is great at the piano and if he wants to join I wouldn't say no but . . ." He paused not sure how to progress exactly. "You know I get the feeling he doesn't like me much." He bit down on his bottom lip that made him look much younger than he was. He couldn't explain it but Corey had always made him very nervous. He also got the feeling that Corey wouldn't be the type to want to join a group he probably preferred playing music on his own at least that was the sort of vibe that Mic got and he 'thought' he was good at reading people.

"Oh well." Jess said, conceding to Michael's point, Corey was a bit of a loner, unless of course he was hanging out with Nathan, and, by extension Jess. "I'm sure there are plenty of other students here with a secret talent." She added, watching Michael's fingers move across the frets effortlessly. Wow, he was good. Jess watched him, her own strumming forgotten for a moment to just.... watch.

Michael often just strummed for the fun of it. He barely ever really payed attention. He just enjoyed the sounds of a guitar. He enjoyed the sounds of a lot of instruments really but a guitar was defiantly his favorite. It was also the most portable. He played fora bit and then stopped and looked up as if something was wrong.
He looked at Jess quirking and eye. "I lost you there Jess. Sorry maybe I was moving a bit to fast. Sometimes I forget not everyone got a guitar for their third birthday." He laughed a bit. It was a joke but he really had gotten his first guitar when he was three. It wasn't a real one but it did play. He was only Seven when his parents decided he could play a real one and he pretty much hadn't been without it since.
He watched Jess for a moment and then put his own guitar down. "Here I'll help." He came up behind her and positioned her fingers to mimic the short riff he had done a minute ago on his guitar. "See? You're a natural. That wasn't so hard was it?" He was smiling again but Michael almost always smiled.

Jess tensed up a little bit, suddenly extremely nervous, oh, why was she so nervous. She let her fingers get positioned without protest, trying to concentration on the position of her fingers, as to remember where they were for next, feeling a strong need to impress him. Which was odd to say the least.
"Yeah." Jess said stupidly, "I mean no!" she said shaking her head slightly, oh god what was wrong with her?
"Err thanks." She settled on lamely. "So uh, do you want to plat a song together or something?" She asked, feeling confident she had the very basics down, desperate to put her bumbling self out of his memory.

He would love to play a song together but he had no idea what songs she knew. It would be simple if they knew the same sort of songs, but he didn't know how likely that was. Thinking of something they might both know he went back to his seat and tried to reposition his guitar on his lap as he thought. He plucked a few notes since it helped him think. It would be easier for her to pick most likely after all she was the one learning he was fairly certain he would be able to pick up anything if he heard it enough times. "Well why don't you tell me what you feel confident playing and we can go from there?" He said it as a question since he would have been fine just riffing and seeing what sounded good. That gave him am idea. He might be able to help her write that song for Nathan that she had mentioned earlier. Well that could probably wait for a bit.

"Hmmm." Jess thought for a moment, should she go Muggle? Or Wizarding World? The fact that Mic played a Muggle Instrument told her that he probably listened to muggle music too, she knew from experience that sometimes Wizarding World music was hard to translate onto Muggle intruments.
"Do you know the Muggle Band Coldplay?" She asked. "They have a really great song called Yellow thats easy to play." She added, unconciusly moving her fingers along to the chord pattern.

He was glad she went muggle. He liked muggle music better. His mother had always been more supportive of his music so he knew muggle music much better than wizard music though he did listen to wizard music he always found it didn't sound quite right when he tried to translate it on his guitar. This was good though. He would have liked to have the drum line, but the drum line was simple enough that not having it wouldn't throw him off. He smiled. "I know cold play. Yellow is a pretty good choice not too hard and much more concentrated on the guitar and bass than the drums which it a good thing since my drum kit is at home anyway." He laughed. He had always wanted to find a way to bring his drum kit but the minute he enlarged it it would have destroyed his dorm room.
He plucked a few notes on his guitar making sure everything was perfectly in tune. He hated when it was a bit off and there was that discrepancy in harmony on a song. "Do you need a count off? Or maybe the lyrics? I'm not too bad a singer if the lyrics would help. My playing might suffer a little bit if I sing but not too much mostly just because I am sitting. It is much easier to play and sing when I stand." He shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal either way.

Jess smiled at Mic as he said he knew the song. "Ohh, I know the lyrics." She assured him, this was after all one of her very favourite songs. "How about we both sing?" She asked, feeling a little shy but not to shy, and also, she really wanted to hear Mic's singing voice.
"I can start us off if you like." She offered, moving the base into position and holding down the frets for the first note.

Mic nodded. He was glad Jess was going to sing with him. He wanted to see if she sang was well as she played. More than wondering about her singing voice he knew he would remember the lyrics better if she was singing with him. He put his guitar down for one second. "Just give me a minute if we are going to play yellow I would like it to sound right." He flicked his wand first at the bass he had given her and then at his own guitar. It appeared as if nothing happened. When he picked the guitar back up and gave it a strum it sounded like an electric guitar. It still appeared acoustic but the sound was completely different. "There now count us off." He closed his eyes so he could concentrate on the intro. The intro was the hardest guitar part of the song and he would be terribly embarrassed if he messed up in front of her.

Jess was quietly impressed at the spell Mic just cast, he must be very good at Transfiguration, or, was that Charms? Oh but no time for that! She had to count them in.
"One and a two and a thr-" She cut herself off as they both started playing. She could tell straight away the Mic was a good player, the intro to Yellow was a little tricky. She bobbed her head in time with the beat as the strummed through the intro, smiling at Mic widely.
"Look at the stars. Look how they shine for you. And everything you do. Yeah they were all Yellow."

Michael kept his eyes closed through the whole intro. He was used to playing things that were faster and a little more rock centric so he knew he would have to pay attention not to speed the song up. He counted in his head as she counted them in out loud. He nodded with every number to get the beat.
He opened his eyes after the intro smiling. He was pleasantly surprised by the fact that he hadn't tripped up or sped up any it had been a long time since he played this song, but apparently it was like riding a bike. His smile grew a little when he heard her voice. He was pleasantly surprised by it's quality. He listened to her sing for one stanza just smiling. He joined his voice with her own on the second stanza remember they were both supposed to be singing.
"I came along I wrote a song for you And all the thing you do And it was called yellow"

Jess smiled at Mic as he started to sing with her, she was very impressed by his voice, great singer, great guitarist. He was certainly musically gifted. She watched his finger dance along the frets of the Guitar, momentarily forgetting to sing while she just.... watched.

He laughed a little breaking up his singing but not enough that he had to actually stop singing. He found it slightly funny that she had stopped singing though he couldn't tell you why. He figured he could address it when the song was over though there wasn't a significant break in the lyrics to ask her why she stopped singing until the song was done unless he stopped singing himself and he wasn't sure he would be able to jump back in with the right lyrics if he stopped.

Jess snapped out of her daze, immediately blushing as she realised what had happened.
"Ohh err sorry." she said liking down at he hands as she fussed with the guitar in her hands nervously. He face was burning and she cursed herself.

He smiled when she blushed. She was cute when she was embarrassed. “Don’t worry about it Jessica I was mostly worried about singing the wrong words when you stopped.” He let his fingers ghost over the strings after they finished the song not playing just tracing the chords he used to have trouble with. “Had enough for one day or would you maybe be interested in picking up the pace a little?” He wasn’t going to push her but he would like to try something a little faster.
